Looking for pictures of the amount of oil on the dip stick at 6 qrts vs 7 qrts. I searched and most put 6 but many put 7 qrts on the V10. Wanted to see where everyone else's oil is sitting on their dip sticks compared to mine. I just did an oil change and did the 6 qrts. If you post picture, also put amount of oil.

I always put 7 quarts in (290,000 miles / 5000 = 58 changes) and never have had a problem. On the stick it's in the 3/4 hash area.

 

I don't have a picture but at 6qts it's always perfectly at the top of the hash pattern.

 

Funny, on mine, at 6 qts (after running it and leaving it sit overnight), the level is right halfway between low and high marks.

 

Same here . I made my own "full mark" half way .

 

Same here, I put 7qts in and by the time I go to change it is back b/w the hashes.

 

Here is mine with 6qts and has the scribe mark for 6.

 

Is it a 2V or 3v V10? The 2V is 6 quarts of oil + some for the oil filter and the 3V is 7 quarts + filter in my experience, I could be wrong but that's what I have found to be normal....

 

I think your right Twigs mine being a 3v and 7qts and everyone else with a 2v and 6 qts.

On a side note thought I did put 7 qts in my 3v 5.4 (2005) and never had a problem either.

 

I have the 2V and its in a Excursion.

 

I fill the filter then add 6qts to the engine. About 6 1/2 qts.
