Thinking about buying...

Hi everyone, my name is Brandon (hi Brandon) and I've been sober for almost.. wait, wrong group.. Anyhow this is my first post here, my dd is a 2000 Ford Taurus, she has lowish miles for the year, runs good, rust free, and the transmission is in the early stages of failure, but that's not what I came here to talk about. I'm looking at possibly purchasing a 6th gen F100 2wd. It's been sitting about 500 feet from my house on the side of the road for about 2 years now. The driver side window is busted out and it's been sitting in the weather that way. I believe it was driven to it's current location. I don't know much about it. I was told it had the 6 cyl in it but I was told by the same person it was a 4 spd on the floor and it actually turned out to be automatic. So anyway I've only taken a quick glance at it but the body looks pretty good, the truck looks complete, the interior is fair for having sat in the weather like it has. I am unsure of the year and the motor. I know it is pre '77. I believe it to be between 1973-1976. It has the round headlights that sit in round buckets. I believe strongly it is a '73, but I could be wrong. Can anyone give me information on the '73s? What were the available engine options? Thanks everyone for reading, any and all info would be great. Thanks

Brandon welcome to FTE, I believe the 240 or 300 6 cylinder was an option in 73. Both motors are known for being a very good motor. Get the vi and run it to find out what is should have in it, be advised it could have anything swapped into it.
