Hello guys new here with my 2016 f250 Lariat 6.2 4x4.. Question.. There's some sort of tapping noise that comes from underneath the under carriage like around exhaust area it seems.It's like a tapping sound the truck makes once its turned off. Does it about 6 times every 2 to 3 minutes.. Cant pin point the noise. Any thoughts?

 

It's the brand new exhaust pipes contracting as they cool down. Mine did it for around the first 5-6K miles, now not so much.

 

I'm guessing the heat shields cooling down on the exhaust system. Normal noise.

 

I think we where typing at the same time and same thought.

2x on the cool down, mine has done this since new...2004

 

Mine did it until the heat shields came loose. Now it just rattles like heck, ha.

 

My 99 V10 just turned over 100,000 miles and still does it.

 

My 06' did that for years until the heatshields came loose and I zipped em off with a air chisel.
