Code Reader diagnostic tools?

Hi, New to site, Base in Perth Western Australia, 2006 7.3L crew cab 4X4

What tools, code readers, diagnostic programmes are people using to monitor and diagnose engine faults and sensor values?

Thanks

Daz,
g'day, and welcome.

I am using the AutoEnginuity program.

I was quite happy with it when I first bought it at version
10 point something but the latest version 12 update is a
big disapointment.

Reverting to an older version is problematic.

There are other programs that are bettter suited.

I am sure some wiser heads on the forum will be better able
to advise you.

Hi, Interesting that AE is disappointing, I was leaning towards AE as other blogs this is the only one to have, Can somebody confirm if it's correct that the Australian, brazil made trucks use the scanners, diagnostic software as the USA trucks?

Hey mate - I don't have a 7.3l, so can't verify if this works as well with your truck as it does with mine, but I personally use Forscan. Its free (just need a cable or bluetooth OBD2 dongle to connect it to a laptop).

Given the price, its probably worth checking out.
What's new

If you get a bluetooth OBD2 dongle you can also download an app to your phone which will allow you to check most PIDs, but they don't do diesel specific items.

Adrian.
Does Forscan talk directly to USB or do you need to use a
USB to COM port adapter?

AE will work the same with US built trucks and ours , the new version of AE is Giotto 13.1 is an easy set up to use and well worth the money.
You can also use the SC 1705 as a code reader if you have one.

You just need an OBDII adapter for your laptop.

Either a USB or Bluetooth one (I have the latter so I can also use the adapter with my phone)
