My truck saved my life

I'm going to keep this short. I fell asleep behind the wheel at 3am back on Nov 15 and ended up going into a very steep ditch at about 50 mph. I ended up slamming into a 48 in diameter concrete culvert. I flipped over the driveway and landed facing the way I came on the driver side of the truck. They had to cut the roof off to get me out. I spent 18 days in the hospital. I broke my jaw in 4 places, fractured 8 bones in my face and had to get reconstructive surgery. Had my right ear torn off but they sewed it back on. I broke my collarbone, 3 ribs and fractured some vertebra. Also got a very bad laceration in my left eye and permanently lost vision in it. The truck just broke 300k miles but still had a lot of life left in it. They told my wife I would have been dead if my truck wasn't lifted with a gas engine because it kinda jumped the culvert instead of smashing directly into it. Anyways here are a few pics.

Before

After

Except for the eye I have already pretty much recovered. I even went back to work 2 weeks ago. Everyone keeps telling me I have a second chance at life.

Wow that's an incredible story, no doubt the truck saved your life. I am amazed and I definitely hope you do get full recovery without any complications down the road. It is a shame about the truck but you can always get another: a human life can't be replaced. Someone was sure on your side that day.

The truck can be replaced, but being there for that little one is what really matters.

It is amazing the choices we make in life, and how they can always have an effect.

Imagine, you never bought that truck,
you decided you wanted that deisel after all.
You decided that you wanted a new truck sooner
you decided to do ANYTHING differently along the way.

So glad to hear you are alive and ok as ok can be. Being able to hold your wife and little one again is worth more than anything. Get well and take your time recovering, you have some new life changes to get used to.

That all said, I fell asleep behind the wheel once, and definitely had someone looking out for me as I was able to come to a safe stop at the base of a sign. I have spend a few more nights in hotel rooms, and taken a lot more time to think about where and when I am going some where. This takes a serious turn around and look moment here, usually not worth the time to do this in life but this is a stop the world moment and think.
