1991 ford ranger codes 18c and 88c
Im having problems with a 1991 ford ranger. I have put a code reader and the code reader is giving me 18c (Erratic IDM input to processor/SPOUT circuit grounded). It is also giving me 88c (loss of dual plug input control). The truck has a 2.3 L standard with over drive. After driving it about 4 to 5 miles it I try to gas on it to acc. my speed gearing up. It will not speed up the engime roars and and jerk while the truck decreases in speed. The rmp jumps from normal to below 1000 rmp and rides there for a while. I can barely gas on the throddle to go anywhere. I have replaced the Ignition coils, the fuel filter, and air filter. The code reader is also giving me other codes: 10, 14c, 31c, 66c, 77r,. It does have a broke vacume line that runs from the air filter box to the intake. But it idles with no problem. I thought it may be some of the plugs are fouling out or the plug wires but I replaced them last summer. with the engine running, the code reader is giving me (cylinder 4). I have had this problem for several months and it is getting worse. I can hardly pull a trailer or even climb a hill. Maybe with this information some one can help me and tell me what to replace...

My truck gave me the same symptoms and it was my DIS module that was bad and it gave my brothers 94 Ranger the same way also. I was told that they only have a life of 80k miles. Sometimes you just get more than that out of them.
