Best used 4x4 under $5,000?

I want something stronger and bigger than the 4.0 Ford Ranger. Which F150's and F250's have the most reliable engines, transmissions, 4x4 setups?

I should probably update this thread... I bought a 2001 F250 5.4L 4x4 flatbed, 200,000 miles, with a tapping noise that sounds like a valve tap in #1 cylinder (using a stethoscope), but it also has two broken-off nuts on exhaust manifold on that side of the engine, and I'm wondering if somehow that is the tap. I don't think so, but my hearing isn't the greatest any more. Anyway, the truck has a lot of body rust underneath, but the frame is solid. I paid $2,000 flat. It's perfect for me. Manual hubs. Doesn't burn oil, but it has a leak that I can't find. It drips on the cross pipe, right below where the engine joins the transmission. Rear seal?
