I have an 85 F-150 300 (4.9l) L6.
I am doing a DSII conversion on it. What kind of carb do I need to get? If I understand right I need one without electronic feedback? Other than that I have no idea what I should be looking for.

Great question. Hopefully more of our resident experts will also chime in
with their recommendations for a new carb with other make/model numbers.

I'm planning on doing the same with my '85 in the spring and have found that
trying to scrounge a pre-1983 carb for my 4.9 out of the local scrapyards
has not been successful.

 

If stock I know my 81 is a non-feed back carb I just don't know if it will bolt onto the later intakes but would think so?


Another way to go would be to replace the intake with a v4 one, use an adapter for the Motorcraft 2100 or Holley 2300 350cfm carbs.
When replacing the intake might want to replace the exh manifold with the split FI ones at the same time.
