'87 Sable 3.0- 220,000 miles and so far so good. Factory trans, too. Knock on formica. Replaced timing set at 140k 'cuz I didn't know if it had plastic gears, and didn't want to find out far from home. Leaks a little from the pan, but uses less than 1qt oil per 1500 miles, so who can complain? tom

UK02RANGER,
I had a 1991 Ranger 3.0 until it had 139,000 miles and got rid
of it only because I wanted something new. Currently, I have a
1998 3.0 with 116,000 miles on it and it still runs like brand new.
My Dad had a 1986 3.0 until 119,000 miles then sold it to my
brother and it is still on the road with well over 150,000 miles
on it.My brother has taken it as far as Oregon from Ohio.
RANGER01
It's not a truck, but my father put 270,000 miles on his 97 grand marquis, gave it to my sister who got it over 300,000, and then gave it to my other sister who drove it to Des Moines and it now has close to 350,000 miles on it. no major engine work, orig. tranny and pumpkin. Just regular oil changes and maintenace (e.g. brakes, filters, tune-up). Fords are beasts
You won't beleive it but I have a 95 Aerostar with a 3.0L and it has 215k on it. Original SPARK PLUGS, and it has the original tranny. Still shifts perfect.
The amazing part is the engine does not use ANY oil in the 3k interval, and it does not have any knocks or ticks. Very impressive.
I was just talking to a friend last week and he told me that there ranger at work has the 3.0 and it just turned 480,000 miles. They have had it since it was new and it is used for deliverys.Transmission has been changed twice(manuals). They had another one that had 425,000 but it died when they severely overheated it.But the 480 one is still running every day.
my 1992 ranger 5speed has 228,697 km on it and runs like new ,
except the common v6 3.0 valve knock untill it warms but its been doing that for 2yrs or more now and no probs, my old ranger which was 1984 with a 4cyl. 2.0l had over 700,000 km (no its not a typo) only problem with the old ranger was the body and wanted something new. if your not fussy and dont mind the looks you could drive a ranger forever, my old ranger i didnt drive nicely either ,i was trying to kill it to get wife convinced to let me buy a new one, lol. anyways my opinion on ford ,great company. not the fastest but RELIABLE. sorry for the long post.
bought it at 121,341 miles
Oil change at 122,055 (22 miles on the oil since last change)
tranny fliter and fluid at 122,303 (due to slippage in shifting)

Anything Can Be Fixed ... Where's My 16lb. Sledge-Hammer ............
My 1991 Ranger 3.0 has 168,500+ miles on it and still running like new. I use Mobil 1 synthetic oil & it looks like new on the inside, too! I had the 4AOD automatic transmission flushed at around 110,000 miles, and just removed the trans. pan and replaced the filter
Got 145,000 on my 92 SC, he likes to mark his territory though when he parks. Comes from the rear main, been leaking for a long time 15 to 20,000 miles, just add in a qt once every 1-2 months. I think the bed will fall off before the engine gives out. (knock on wood)

Check your PCV valve! If it isn't providing enough suction, the rear main will leak. I found this out when I forgot to replace the oil filler cap on my '91 Ranger.
I also got an '82 Concord to stop leaking oil around the vlave cover gasket by spraying the PCV valve with Gumout. This car did not have synthetic oil in it. My Ranger does, and the PCV never sludges up
