How many miles on your 3.0

Interesting thread in the sense that when I compare what is said here with what I see in a local Pick 'n Pull, full of Taurus and Sables, I was beginning to wonder. Many, many cars between 130,000-160,000 miles and the rare car to see one over 200,000 miles. My wife's at 168,000 currently.

My 96 Taurus has 291,000 on it and I just replaced the Cam Syncro.....again. It seems like it eats them about every 3 years or so, along with starters. Since I change the oil every 8,000 insted of every 3,000 I would imagine the starters will not fill up with oil as bad. Blackstone labs has me changing the oil when the oil is getting close to being worn out, not every 3,000 like what has been popular for years. It runs up to about 220 when I am doing 70 down the road when it is above 90 outside and I have changed the water pump, radiator, heater core, thermostat...basically anything to do with the cooling system..Maybe she is just getting tired..

Love this truck. Replaced my last truck, an abused 95' S10 with 275k miles, that had a valve job. Fun truck, but I sold it when the clutch gave out. Blessed to have found this Super Cab in good condition at 200k. Decided to replace the clutch, busted A/C compressor, starter, corroded battery terminal, that's it. Everything is original. Drives like a dream.

Not 100% sure how many miles are on my 92 Super cab. It had been sitting for 5 years before I bought it for $500 last November. It did not run, and showed 70k on the odometer. I don't know if that is 170k or 270k due to the limitations of the odometer. However, after replacing both cats, and the fuel evap pipe, and patching a hole in the gas tank (because I could not find a gas tank anywhere) I got it running in January, and took a trip to Bakersfield with no issues, and then in May of this year took a trip to Madras, Oregon for my brother's funeral. That was a 1,300 mile round trip from Fresno. Other than needing a quart of oil, the truck performed flawlessly. Even with no working AC or heater, (Oregon was cold in May!). I now have my brother's 97 Dodge Stratus with working AC and heater, so I drive that more now than the truck, but the truck still works fine. Had to replace the battery a week or two ago because the cheap one year warranty battery I bought at Walmart "just to get it running" back in November crapped out. The owner of the truck told me the engine had been replaced 50k miles ago, so that tells me it has at least 170k on it, or had, I think it is up to 173k now as I am disabled and use my electric scooter for grocery shopping, so I don't put many miles on it. And now with the addition of the Stratus, I put even less.

My mileage includes all driving, city & highway. I have driven my Aeros over 500,000 miles and have never been able to measure a difference between city and highway mileage even though I have kept meticulous records from the day I bought them.

I have a 2002 Ford Ranger with 3.0 engine and limited slip differential. It just passed 280,000 miles. It has been very reliable. My only complaint is the gear indicator on steering column, inside steering column there is a wire that has a plastic piece on it that that controls the indicator on top of steering column, The plastic piece broke and is no longer obtainable from Ford. Now my indicator shows in second gear when I am actually in drive. I would drive it anywhere.

My 3rd Aerostar bit the dust on Easter at 415,000 miles on original motor. Quit on freeway. No compression. Van not worth fixing, so headed to crusher after I rob my new tires and other parts that I know my 4th Aero will eventually need, like starter, alt, battery, seats (still look almost new), and so on.
I paid $300 for it, put 7 quarts of oil in the transmission, and then drove it a quarter of a million miles. Less than $2000 in major repairs during that time.
