Here' more pics of what I have accomplished over the winter.

After I wire wheeled and sanded I put these on inside of outer fenders and both sides of inner fenders for the rust treatment.

Inners, Some bad rusting but with the battery trays not that noticeable. I think a battery exploded on the passenger side because that is the bad one and the hood on that side has a rust through in that location.

Undersides

Radiator. Needs another coat

Fan shroud. Has two cracks in it that I epoxied. Came out real well.

all ready for paint

Ready for paint (I hope). Had to fix a few spots. Two were where some numbnut must have put like 1x1inch wood pieces between the hood and cowl to keep the hood up higher, forgot about the wood pieces and tried too close the hood. Imbecile.

My gumar making sure I'm staying on task.

Tool box latch. Don't know what the original finish was. But it had a rust patina and a little pitting.

Radiator overflow tank and bracket.

Cool Ugh!!! Frustration

Working on the tail gate " FORD" trim. Sanded, cleaned with acetone, taped, then rattle can gloss black first coat. Wet sanded, removed tape to re- tape before next coat. This is what I got....!#@$%@$#!^!!!!!!

Oh well, Not sure what I need to do to prevent this? Any wisdom guys?

Looks like you used that blue "painter's tape". I personally, never get a good result. I would use pin striping up against the letters and then masking tape in between the pin striping. Pin striping bends with the curves super easy.

I take it you mean like the kind they sell at Autozone, etc., to dress up your vehicle. Not tape like the blue crap I used?

Exactly. The pin striping like some would use to separate a tu-tone paint job or whatever. That pin striping is real pliable and will stick better. Then removable.

I had the same results on my instrument panel. I think the sanding went faster the second time 'cause I was so mad with the spotty results. The pin striping works. I don't think the blue tape works as well with enamel paint, as it does with latex.

I have used "Frog tape" with excellent results, and no bleeding through, a clean line every time.. much better than the blue tape...

BACK TO SQUARE 3

Well I went to an auto body and paint supply place and got what the pros use. It's called "Fine Line " tape. It supposedly has something on its surface that keeps the paint from binding to it. I stripped off the paint and roughed up the areas a bit more. I used acetone and let it soak and used a plastic spatula to scrape it off. Came off like butter. I kept a bit of my sanity. Here's some pics of it.

Both of us were Airborne. He fought in the Pacific. He graduated Airborne School in Aug. 1944. I graduated in Aug. 1984. I still find that coincidence amazing. He pinned his sterling silver wings on me at my graduation ceremony. When I told him I enlisted and requested Airborne school and Assignment to a Ranger Battalion he was a little upset with me, but he was also proud. He died March 23rd 2009. I miss him something awful. He was a good man, husband, and father.

Nice thought WR, but I am afraid that we have been at war with the Middle East for about 1200 years, and we just don't recognize the fact yet. It wasn't Mother Goose, or Snow White and her gang who attacked the twin towers. I do not hold an entire religion responsible for the acts of a few, but I do not see many Middle Easterners coming forward and exposing the few. Somehow that just doesn't seem to happen... Just saying, now back to something I understand better... like trucks & beer..
