Tires - OWL or black sidewalls

Not a big deal to me but I'm curious. Most if not all LT tire manufacturers offer their tires either OWL (Outline White Letters) or as blackwalls. I currently have some Firestone OWLs which are at this time of year, pretty scuzzy. I'll need some new tires (probably not Firestones) as one has an ugly sidewall gouge almost to the cords and with pulling a fairly big 5th wheel trailer is suspect for safety.

With that said, which do you prefer, OWLs or black sidewalls? Why?

I like the look of the white lettering..But a couple rubs against a curb and it wrecks it. so I get the black ones for now.

Well it depends on the look and style you're shooting for. If your shooting for the off-road, and heavily accessorized look, then OWLs would add to that affect. If you're shooting for the clean/smooth/subtle look, then you go BW

I generally prefer the white letter, but I came from the 80's.

I prefer OWL.
I've also noticed a LOT of folks who mount the OWL tires on backwards to get blackwalls.. so, the OWL let's you do BOTH.
Provided you don't find the IWL (inside White Wall) tire looking stupid..

I prefer white letters out on trucks. Black sidewalls look boring to me, but to each his own.

OWL out ditto!!! I am also a product of the 80's and that is just such a classic cool look. But in the end it is personal choice. Isn't that WHY we live here? Vote smart and it will stay that way. B.

I'm also debating this as I need a new set of sneakers for my truck. Since my truck is stock, I do like the look of the OWL so I'm leaning that way.

These are BW on my '31:

And OWLs on my truck:

I have LT tires on our 5th wheel that are OWLs but turned to the backside - and if I get them again for the truck, maybe I'll consider turning them around.

Sounds like it's about 50-50 OWL/BW based on my original OP question I'm still not sure on how I'll end up but am considering the identical LRR tire for my truck as the 5er (General Grabber HTS) andt they are only OWL
