ill ask the stupid questions first....are you sure the trans in both trucks are the same?
are the transfer cases the same?
is one truck lifted?
do the driveshafts have the same style of slip?

Are you sure your truck is an E4OD? Most 302s seemed to come with the 4R70W.

Yes they did...and by 1995 most 302s came with them. Check the Trans code on the door jamb sticker to make sure.

Both trans are e4od. No lifts. Same transfer case. And both the same slip type

I will ask again...are you sure they both have the same transmission? Forgive me for questioning but more than once someone was wrong about the transmission in a 5L truck of this vintage. Count the transmission pan bolts and compare pan shapes.
Otherwise no idea why the front driveshaft is different length.

Both are 20 bolt pans and the same shape. The only difference between the 2 is that the 95 has push button transfer case.

Thanks for verifying the transmission type. Very interesting there may be a difference between a push-button and manual shift transfer case.

A quick look at some parts sites seems to indicate those particular shafts for those particular engine/transmission combinations should be the same.

But what about overall length of shaft?
