F-250 2005 XLT 4x4 Problem!
Hi guys! i'm new to this forum! Also new to a F-250 2005 XLT 5.4L 4X4. Had ford for a few years now (Escape as a personal vehicule and econoline as business vehicule). Now i'm having a little problem with 4x4. It wont engage. Worked fine last week and now nothing! I did check all the fuses and when i switch to either 4Lo or 4Hi I can hear a clicking sound behind the switch but feel like it's getting blocked or something. trys a few time then stop... Do you guys have any ideas or experience about this issue?
did some research on internet but no concrete answers!
Thanks a lot!

when I start the truck, The light comes on with all the other lights. Then shut downs and impossible to get it back. I Haven't try using physical lock. Would it change something?

Ok, does the 4wd indicator light come on when you try engaging 4wd? Does it flash or not come on at all? Try putting the vehicle in Neutral and try to engage 4wd.
If the light does not illuminate after you turn the dash **** to engage 4wd, then the t-case is not engaging in 4x4. Which can indicate that the electric motor is not working properly. It could be stuck, or you may have a relay that has gone bad or a wiring issue.
If it does engage, you may feel or hear a light clunk when it locks into 4x4. Also the dash light indicating 4wd will be lit.

At this moment your hubs are not in question. Just trying to diagnose the t-case.
If your 4wd dash light is lit, then your t-case should be engaged. If so, then you would move to the hubs. They are operated by vacuum(AUTO setting) or manually locked(LOCK setting). There are areas that are prone to failure in this system, i.e. inner hubs seals, frozen hubs, vacuum solenoid, vacuum lines.
It is a process and can be frustrating. It is usually something simple, but can be somewhat difficult to narrow down the cause.

You will need to check voltage at the t-case shift motor. Images show where it is located and what it looks like.
If you do not have voltage, then it is probably the relay. Relays are inexpensive and it is cold. I would start there. Sounds like that may be your issue, as you said it worked recently.
