I have a '73.

Sounds like you need a sending unit.

My '73 doesn't have a working gas gauge, I just keep a willow branch and dip it inside the tank every once in a while. Perfectly reliable.

...... that they made them only one year!




What you are looking for is a Fuel Tank Sending Unit.

There is a possibility that simply removing and cleaning yours well might fix it ..... but that would be a big "maybe".

What size tank, where is it under the truck or behind seat, etc .... Rock Auto has some Fuel Tank Sending Units for rear mount behind axle 19 gallon tanks.
