I'm building a 57 Big Back Glass/ stepside. Have the 2000 cv front end, Navigator 5.4l/trannie,9in. rear. I'm following you as you build to get as much info. Buying parts here and there, when it don't interfere with home needs... All and any advice, warning and help will be great... Power Thru!!!!

Sounds like a cool build. You're going to graft the clip in from the 2000? If you don't have a build thread start one up so we can see your progress.

Here is an update. I have the front suspension welded up but still need to do some finishing touches and boxing in once I drop the suspension out. My plan is to box the farm in upfront and at the rear where I've installed the Tbird IRS. I have also finished setting the IRS and just need to finish my frame notch for the rear arms and box the rear in. I want to have it all cleaned and welded up and off to powder coat by the end of the month. Then I can take apart all the IRS and CV and clean and paint and install new rubber pieces and rotors and pads. Also have the 4.6l in right now and have to make a transmission crossmember.

Thank you! I got some more man cave time in today, finished the C notch and boxed in the rear section. Then I reinstalled the IRS and installed my wife's 18" winter tires on the back so I can roll it around finally! This week I will roll it out and test fit the short box and check the wheel tub clearance, and then if all is good take the cab and box off and do the final welding pieces. I also need to box the frame it where the crown Vic front IFS is and weld up any holes not needed anymore and then do some grinding. I am hoping to take it for powdercoat before the end of the month. Some more pics. Enjoy D

D man, I'm enjoying what I've seen. I've since picked up an Explorer 8.8 rear but it's a non limited slip w/3.55 ratio.. I will find a limited slip for my truck.. I'm trying to find the 104 pinout for the 2000 Nav. ECM. Want to make sure that I will have the info before I go too far. I also picked a pair of heated bucket seat from a 2004 Lexus IS-300 . I was looking into installing a gauge bezel from the Lexus as well, have to do my home work.. Keep up the good work ok, check with you later..

Thanks, this parts searching and building is fun.

Frame is stripped and at the powdercoater.

Found some new tires for my wheels as well..

Thanks, I'm trying but time has been limited with the snow coming soon.

Few pictures to update everyone.

Frame went to powdercoater so I took apart the cougar IRS and cleaning and applied POR 15 to the subframe and painted the remaining pieces. I ordered new spindle nuts, rotors, pads, calipers and so sway bar bushings and links. I also had some old blue engine paint so I sprayed the 4.6 valve covers for some character.

I still need to paint the front crossmember and put it all together.

Alright I managed to get the frame back from powder coating and it looks great! I also set the IRS in place and installed my rear tires, they look amazing. I then blew apart the crown Vic front end and will be cleaning it up and installing some new parts. I am also waiting for my new rear brake pieces for the rear.

Enjoy. D
