Hi everyone Im new to owning the diesel I have a 97 f250 7.3 stock. The truck was given to me and I was told it has a leaked in both tanks could a leak like that cause fuel to return down the line and cause hard start?
I heard diesels have to be airtight to start correctly. Any help would be appreciated, im in massachusettes

How old is the oil?

Check fuel pressure while cranking at the Schader valve on drivers side of the fuel filter housing.needs 20 psi min when cranking.

Also when cranking minimum 10.5volts is needed.

Do you have any way to check live data to check hpop pressure?

Welcome as well!!

What he said^^

Plug it in and see if it starts easier.

Also check fuel filter and see if the paper part is black.

Hi I haven't checked the oil but the truck starts after cracking a bit then I'll let it run for a bit then I'll shut it off.
I'll immediately try to turn it back on and it will crank like I was starting a cold truck all over again even after its warmed up

That's usually a indication that the O rings on the IPR (injector pressure regulator) need replaced. Welcome!
