Light radiator fan options.

I gotta 96 7.3 with the big ol heavy metal radiator fan. And was wondering if a lighter plastic fan off of other motors would bolt up ? I heard the 6.0 will my 7.3 what else ?

You could put on a Taurus or thunderbird fan. That's what I did. Mine is a 351 though. Will need a fan controller too

Yeah I heard they won't pull enough air for heavy towing in my truck. Because yeah I'd love an electric fan

Might be true but I don't really know. A mark viii pulls even more air but it also puts more strain on your alt so I opted for the Taurus because it's good enough for mine. The mark fan is about as powerful of an electric fan as you'll find though I think

Yeah I looked it up again and I guess they just don't move enough air for a diesel towing

This. Added an e fan to my 7.3 and it just isn't enough when towing heavy or in the mountains. Same fans are now on my 351 f150 and do fine.

You mean mechanical fans? I don't think any of them would be big enough for the 7.3.

Yeah mechanical fans, wasn't sure if one off of like a 5.4 or a 7.4 gaser would work

Looks like Ford Super Duty's and vans with the 7.3 received a 9 blade plastic fan, according to Rockauto. Figure out if there is a difference in the distance between fan/motor/rad and modify to suit. Unless fan rotation changed after 1999; though you might be able to install it backwards in that case.

Yep that's true and I'm pretty sure its the same rotation because they hardly changed much after 97
