Looking for Trailer Charge Relay - 2016 F250

I can't find the relay for the trailer charge circuit. On my other F trucks the relay was usually in a separate box near the distribution box under the hood. The manual only lists a fuse for this circuit, but I know there is a relay. It appears the main dist box can be lifted up; is the a chance the relay is underneath?

While I can't be certain on a 6.2 truck, on mine with the 6.7 the box housing this relay is right next to the left side hood hinge. And it's a bugger to get the cover off of. Should be indicated in the owners manual somewhere, that's where I found the info.

Yeah my other trucks have had a separate relay box but for the life of me I can't find it on the 2016. The orange wire that provides the battery charge current runs into the main dist box. But there is no relay in that box and the manual doesn't list a relay. This is so frustrating.

In my 2013 owners manual the relay is illustrated under "fuses" on page 291. Location number 102, explained page 295. I'd guess it's somewhere around there in a 16 manual too. In the power distribution box by the left hood hinge. No difference diesel or gas. Hope this helps.

Does your truck have the integrated trailer brake controller? Is there just no relay at spot 102 in the box? Is there a loose fuse and relay in the glovebox? They used to put it in a bag on the f150 but I never heard of that on a newer sd.

The relay is located in the Battery Junction Box under the hood. It should be the 4th relay from the left above Fuse 17

I did some more digging. My manual states that spot 102 is not used. There is no relay in #102 in the battery junction box. I can't believe Ford still does not install this relay. It is not in the glove compartment. I have no power at the 7-pin connector on pin 4 in run, so the relay is the culprit. I am going to jump pins 87 and 30 in the BJB to get constant 12v at the 7-pin and use it to power LED bed lights. Thanks everyone.

I just purchased a 2016 also and was searching for the same thing. I didn't find a relay for the charge wire either. But I did use the trailer reverse light to power my bed lights. I jumped the relay for that.

On mine there was no relay in 102 either, but charge wire is hot with key on. At spot 102 there was nothing to plug the relay into. Just an empty slot. But since the charge wire does go hot with the key on there has to be a relay somewhere.

Doesn't that cause the trailer reverse lights to always be on when the trailer is hooked up?

I too have a 16. Have not hooked up a trailer or put the camper on yet. Going to need that charge wire , something else for me to look into. There was no fuse or relay in my glove box.

On my 16 the charge wire was hot only with the key on. I wanted hot at all times. But I can not find the relay for it. Since it is dead with key off, and hot with key on tells me that there is a relay installed somewhere on the truck . It is not in the fuse box under the hood though.

I don't have anything else to offer you 16 owners. Clearly Ford changed something from 13 to 16. I'd scour through the fuses section in the owners manual. They must have changed the relay location, and it's got to be in there somewhere.

Good to hear . Should work fine for me as long as there is power to charge my camper battery when the truck is running.

My dad has a 14 f150 with the max tow package. His fuse/relay for the trailer charging circuit was not installed, was in the glove box.

So here is the battery junction box diagram for a 2015 (Helms doesn't have 2016 online yet). It clearly shows a trailer tow charge relay at location 102.
