Tighten front bumper

Can anyone tell me how much to cut off the frame to set the bumper tighter? The truck is down to frame and I don't have a bumper , I would like to do this before I finish the frame. The truck is a 56 f100 8 ft express. I posted this earlier in the wrong place .

Where in NY? I know of a couple of trucks (near Ithaca) that you might be able to take measurements from.
There was a member on here that just had a smooth valence in front but, had to put a "bumper" behind the valence to "pass NYS inspection". Similar to the new vehicles.

Don't forget room for the "mounting" brackets.

I did this to the one I'm working on now , I cut 2" off the end of the frame rails. The bumper should be about one inch from the gravel pan.

I also went with cutting off 2". This left 1" from the gravel pan. This 1" is very handy when you wash your truck to be able to wash the gravel pan and back side of bumper

I'm sure it would be even handier for someone with small hands
