Collapsed hood?
Hi guys this is on my 86 f250. Well I live in Illinois and during the time that we got frozen rain it accumulated and looked like snow. Well it froze overnight. The next morning I went to clean it off the truck and when I got to the hood I saw that cowl was sitting way higher the hood. I didn't think nothing of it because I left the cowl loose because this is the truck I have to change the wiper motor on. Today I went to see how bad it was since it was tad bit warmer and yeah its pretty noticeable. I couldn't believe how could it have caved in. I should add its only by where the cowl and hood meet.
My dad asked if we could shape it back I told him yes I added maybe if we put a piece of 2x4 in between the hood and cowl and gently press down to see if we could shape it. He didn't seem to sure of that.
Any suggestions?

The hood has a double structure to it. It would be unusual that both the support structure underneath and the upper sheetmetal were bent. Look it over carefully before tweaking it. I think I would properly bolt down the cowl before tweaking since that's your reference point for the hood.
When looking it over check the inner framing for rust. One of my 81 F100's the inner frame is rotted by a hinge mount but the outside looks good.
My guess the inner frame could have rotted and the weight of the ice & snow caved it in?

I'm pretty sure it's just the sheet metal the structure doesn't seem to be out of shape. I looked at my other truck which happens to be a 86 as well and this one it straight as an arrow. I pressed down on the cowl of the f250 to make sure it wasnt out place and it's in place. Then I looked at the hood compared to my f150 this one goes straight and once it gets to the cowl it dips down (looking at it if you are on the driver side fender)

You could probably bend it back after removing the hood using two-by-fours and giant ChannelLocks or C-clamps or some such.

I was thinking about that too. Maybe I did but in the mist of just leaving it I never looked. I'm really kickin' my self in the rear quarters for that.
