Which is the ground wire? E150 4.6L 2004
2004 Ford E150 4.6L gas
Troubleshooting a bad Camshaft Position Sensor code. I need to know which wire is the ground on the harness. Two wire harness Grey wire with red stripe and a green wire. I have not been able to find wiring diagrams and they would probably confuse me if I did.
Thanks

You won't have a ground wire leading from the CPS to a ground source----that device reports directly to the ECM. Ground wires can be found in various locations around the van, typically black and running to a fastener attached to or through some part of the metal body or frame. They will also typically have an uninsulated ring tongue terminal with internal "teeth" for better contact.
EVTM's are very helpful for this sort of diagnosis however if schematics wold confuse you those drawings would be a bit daunting at best as they're pretty specific to their own years and models.
The attached file shows the CPS in its larger circuit, added to show how the EVTM's illustrate the wiring paths.
Have you posted your CPS issues elsewhere here on FTE yet?

Thanks for the diagram. Yes I posted the question asking if the P0340 code and C1226 code could be related. I think I made things more complicated by trying to figure out how to troubleshoot the P0340 issue instead of asking how to troubleshoot it. Would I be infringing on the rules if I put up a new post asking specifically how to troubleshoot that code with a basic Multi Meter?

I'd still post this question in the V8 Modular Motors forum.
