Mild Misfire?
2014 F 250: Has anyone had a bad coil or coils on the 6.2 or maybe a plug wire or wires? My truck seems like it has a mild misfire and idle quality isn't what it was. It sometimes even has a mild shudder when stepping into it pulling a hill. No check engine light. i scanned it, no codes. Any suggestions? Only 24,000 miles.

Under warranty I wouldn't touch anything. Take it to the dealer. I've never heard anyone on here complain of defective or bad coils, especially with such low miles. Not saying it's not defective cause it could be.

My 2000 V10 lost one coil at about 100k (about 10 years old). About a month later lost a second while towing a 5000# camper to Fla. Had a dealer in GA change it. Hardly noticed it when not towing, but when towing it was noticeable, but could still keep up with traffic. Not a problem since with about 135000 on the truck.

You could have picked up gas with some water in it. I recently ran into a misfire with a thrown code on my sisters Grand Marquis. I suspected bad gas so decided to change the fuel filter and collect the fuel in the filter in a clear container. After the fuel settled I could see the water in the fuel. A couple bottles of heet and a new filter fixed it. I have run into this several times over the years and it has only gotten worse as ethanol content increased.
With all the ethanol in gas now water contamination is more common than ever. Especially if you take your truck in and out of a garage. I'd try a couple bottles of HEET or other similar water remover/gas antifreeze and see if that solves the problem. If not take it to the dealer. Ford did away with the fuel filter on the 6.2l so there is no changing it.(just a sock in the tank)

No fuel filter??
Wow! I thought you were wrong... could have sworn I saw a fuel filter listed in the manual of my 2011 6.2L but you are right. There is none! That seems like a really poor decision to save $3. As you say, with all the ethanol issues good filtration seems like cheap insurance.
Has anybody here added a generic inline filter to better protect their injectors?

And back to Matt's original post...
I also have what I think is a misfire on a 6.2L in a high mileage 2011...
Right about 1400 rpm I get a noticeable shudder under light acceleration, mostly noticed in 3 or 4. If you press harder or let up, it immediately goes away. Tapping the brakes quickly while maintaining throttle (supposed to drop out TC) has no effect. CEL is not on, and my scanner doesn't seem to show misfire counts on ANY cylinder!
Truck pulls well, doesn't seem to miss when power braking, but this shudder is highly repeatable. I cleaned all the plug wires with alcohol and they look fine. I have a set of plugs and 4 COPs on the way. I have seen some posters who seem adamant that COP issues CAN be rpm related... I am really hoping this is just an ignition issue, as the truck goes really well otherwise.
I will try to make sure to let you know if I have any success. My personal hunch is that a cylinder may be missing one plug...? I suppose good diagnostics equipment might detect a cylinder imbalance, but perhaps the misfire detection does not.
