6.7 noisey fuel pump....

Well, I last summer my fuel filter/ pump started squealing, and making vibrating noise, replaced the fuel filter changed the noise slightly, some times it would go away, sometimes the line going to the filter under the hood would vibrate, couple weeks ago truck warning light came on- "low fuel pressure warning" came on, hum... went out, came on a couple days later, then finally put me into limp mode, luckly only 1/2 mile from home... checked filter on frame/ tightness, it was tight, the pump on the filter housing was very noisey still, well, I priced the filter/pump at dealer $360.00, ebay $198.00, i figured 200 dollars cheaper than taking to ford....I waited and pump arrived 3 days later, replaced it and low pressure warning still on, but pump was very quiet, and when I restarted low pressure warning and reduced power came on in driveway, hum.... I thought code was still in computer, I disconnected battery and turned headlights on to try and kill the code, started it and now the engine light came on, nothing else, and truck ran fine....hum.... went to autozone, and they pulled the code, low fuel rail pressure, p0087, hum... guy said to drive and code should go off, truck runs fine. Drove truck a couple days and engine light went off, Truck runs great.......All is good, only $200.00 fix... hope this helps someone else....

When I read the title of the thread, I was thinking there would not be a $200 happy ending. Glad it worked out for you!!

Is the pump covered under 5/100,000 warranty?

(4) Your vehicle’s direct injection diesel engine and certain engine
components are covered during the PowerStroke Diesel Engine Coverage
Period, which lasts for five years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs
first. The following parts are covered during this extended coverage
period: the engine, cylinder block, heads and all internal parts, intake
and exhaust manifolds, timing gear, harmonic balancer, valve covers, oil
pan and pump, water pump, fuel system (excluding fuel lines, fuel tank
and frame mounted fuel conditioning module sometimes referred to as
the frame mounted pump/filter/water separator), high pressure lines,
gaskets and seals, glow plugs, turbocharger, two-stage turbocharger
assembly, turbocharger actuator, powertrain control module, engine
control module, high pressure fuel injection pump assembly, electronic
driver unit, injectors, injection pressure sensor, fuel rail pressure sensor,
high pressure oil regulator, exhaust back pressure regulator and sensor,
exhaust pressure sensor, manifold pressure sensor, intake air
temperature sensor, crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor,
accelerator switch.

Doesn't sound like it is.

If you use the Motorcraft fuel treat, you could have the little disk under the cap in your fuel tank. It has happen to me. The disk is just the right size to block the fuel pick up tube. The dealer dropped my tank three times before they found it.
