428/410 flexplate needed

I'm looking for a 428/410 externally balanced flexplate. I'm planning to swap a 428/410 crank into my existing 390 with an auto trans. I know they are available new but wanted to save a few bucks if someone has a usable used one lying around. I don't need high RPM ratings, this will go in a truck that's a driver/tow rig.

Feel free to bump this every few days, if need be.

Best to go ahead and get a new one, that way you have a new starter ring gear.

And if you get a new one, you might as well have a machine shop work yours over and balance it.

Thanks for the help. I think I'll just have the shop balance my existing flextplate with the new 428 crank and my rods etc.

What are you running for pistons?

I hope to reuse my pistons. I hope my truck is a typical truck 390 and it has the 410 pistons. I haven't torn it down yet. If it does have those and doesn't need boring I will have my pistons milled enough to get me below 9.5 compression. Of course that will all depend on what my D2T head CC at. Barry redid the heads and he should ship them soon. I asked him about CCing them but haven't heard back from him yet.

I don't want to end up with 10.5 comp like the factory Merc 410 had.

So I don't know for sure about pistons until I get the heads CC'd and see what pistons I have and if I need a bore. I can see cross-hatch mark through the spark plug holes right not so I'm hoping for the best.

If I need pistons I will see about locating some Probe pistons like you used.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Good plan. For what it is worth, by the time I bought a crank, had it ground, bought pistons, rod bolts, rods rebushed, etc, I was something like $500 away from a 445 stroker kit. Just a thought.

I hear you on the cost of a stroker. I've been thinking I was going to hold out for a stroker but I ran across this Eagle crank for $300 with free transportation and it's been to the machine shop and ready to install. I bought it from a trusted guy on the FE forum. I still have to buy bearings, rod bolts, rings & gaskets. If I have to have pistons I'll use cast Sealed Power 381NP for $119 from Summit. Once I get the engine apart and see exactly what's in the bore I'll know more. I'll be watching the budget, If I'm going to be that close to a 445 stroker kit then I'll change the course and sell the 428 crank.

I know Scat crank is preferred but I think for a low RPM truck engine the eagle will live a long life.
