I need help identifying this heater core Jeffaffa or Dummy

I got a lot of NOS Ford parts recently that I am selling. Most of them are from the 60's and 70's. I think I have learned how to decode the part numbers quite well... when they are on the box.

So two questions:
1. how do you decode the number that is on the part itself? I think it is called the casting number or engineering number. I know it is similar yet different. I have a lot of loose striker plates and shims not in boxes. Worse yet, I have a lot of door latches loose and I can not find any number on them at all. How do you ID latches?

2. I have an NOS heater core in a dilapidated Ford box with no number. Here is the number on the core: CC3AF+18476-A. Under that it says "Blackstone." It may be for a car or a truck and it could be anywhere from 61 to late 70's.... Now that I am thinking is it a 1963 (C3) for a Galaxie (A)?

Here are pics of it. I will go out and get the measurements.

The heater core is 9.5" long x 6" wide. It is 2.5" thick. the distance from outlet/inlet pipe to pipe is 8.5" and the pipes are 4" from the elbow to the end.

thanks. Abe

It does resemble the core in my 64 galaxies. Not sure about the offset piping? Don't have a way to measure them.

I think I found out what car this heater core goes to, a 62 and 63 Falcon, Fairlane and a Comet. Compare the pics. Mine is first, the second is a repop I found on ebay:

Your engineering number does not show up in any of my old cross reference slides. But back then 99.999% of the time the engineering numbers mirrored the part numbers. So yes, I believe it to be a C3AZ18476A. I have one interchange slide that shows it was replaced by E3AZ18476F. BUT, I don't believe this. I remember back in the day Ford listed a bad heater core part number change. I think this was it. You are also correct on the "C3AZ" This translates to 1963 full size Ford car and Ford responsible not Lincoln Mercury for the part. Nothing from the 80's is going to resemble your C3AZ.

C3AZ18476A:

63/64 Full size Ford car with heater. I.E. non A/C.
63/65 Fairlane with heater.
63/64 Full size Mercury with 2" core. 2 1/2" C2AZ-A also possible.
62/63 Meteor with 2" core. 2 1/2" also listed as possible.

NOT!
It's 1963/64 Custom/Galaxie & full sized Mercury. A as the 3rd digit of an ID or part numbers prefix: Full sized Ford.

El Jeffe: 1983 = Ford replaced several 1960/70 heater core part numbers with 1983 part numbers.

But, the cores do not fit any 1980's anythings, they are smaller than the originals and require a foam rubber 'fits-all' kit.
