What is that on the window sticker?

At the bottom of the "OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT/OTHER" section of the window sticker on the truck I'm looking at buying, there's a line that reads:

TAG 037D419 J PERRY

I saw one sticker on another car the dealer was selling that had the TAG and other characters and it also showed "DAMAGED UNIT"

What are these TAG lines for?

On the one that says perry, that shows that the dealer special ordered it for a customer whose last name was perry, with regard to damaged unit, ford must have had an issue with that specific unit.

So why did J Perry refuse to take the truck he ordered? Should be your main worry! On that one.. And who returned the other one? How many miles are on it?

I didn't know he refused this truck. Would you contact him as to why he did and post here. TIA

It's not uncommon at all to order a truck and not take delivery. You don't pay for the truck or sign a contract until the truck is in and you choose to buy it. In many cases you risk your deposit if this happens, but not always.

Mr. Perry probably decided to buy one that was already on the lot.

No,,, but you could ask the dealer to see what story he tells you... Now that you know what it means.

Happens pretty often. Either the customer decided they don't want to wait, the dealership made a mistake and got the 3.5 NA rather than the 3.5 EB or any number of things that can happen between order and delivery. Or it had carrier damage, though in most states damage over a set number needs to be claimed, In Pa I think it's $500 and it doesn't take much to get $500 in damage. It wouldn't be a concern of mine as a consumer.

OP asked the question,, so I thought it was something he was wondering about and wanted advise. So I/we gave it to him,, not saying that there is anything wrong with the truck just a heads up that there just might be and now that he knows what it means to ask first not after he gets it home and starts finding out all the stuff that isn't working right.

Might be as simple as J Perry ordered it and then started reading on Ford F-150 forums about all the problems others are having and bought a different brand.

And I was just giving my insight as well. I didn't reject anything said by you or others. I reaffirmed that it happens often and said that I wouldn't think twice about it as a consumer myself.

My father's dealer does special orders quite a bit. It's not unusual for someone to buy a different truck or get tired of waiting. They only take a deposit on unusualy optioned orders. The truck I just bought was a special order that the initial orderer passed on.

I special ordered a 2016 and the window sticker says special order only. My name or initials are not on the sticker anywhere. Is it common to have the customers name on it?

My '08 F250 had my name on it. Most I see lately just say Special Order. Probably has to do with how the order is submitted.

Same here. I looked all over it and there is no clue remotely related to me, my initials, or even zip code. Just "Special Order".

When I worked at a dealer we ordered vehicles all the time for a specific person. It gave us priority in getting the unit. Also if there is a vehicle that is very popular, it didn't count against our monthly allotment. I did not work at a Ford dealer but would imagine they may have something similar.
