I have 2 tubes of Archoil AR8100 Biosyn Synthetic Biodegradable Grease, I was unable to determine whether it was compatible with the timken factory lithium base grease. It worked great the last 20k miles on my last hubs, but with the new hubs I don't want to risk it. Has anyone else tried the AR8100 or know if it is indeed compatible. If not I don't want to risk anything and will just drive my happy butt to grab a tube of Valvoline’s Cerulean grease or Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease. It's what riffraff recommends as per the ABS zerk instructions.

Actually it's quite easy, a little involved since you actually need to take the hub off to get to both main bearings. You might want to take the spindle off in order to service the small pilot bearing too. The procedure to manually pack the bearings with grease is the one depicted by dixie460. The hub/hub locker just need their splines coated with some grease. Check this link of mine, there are plenty of pictures of most of the procedure: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post11243835

Well damn. I've been doing this backwards for years.

Repacking wheel bearing is about the most simple maintenance item there is. There isn't anything in there to be scared of. It only gets slightly more difficult if you repack the spindle bearing because getting the spindle off can be a bear if it hasn't been off for a while. Just do one side at a time and lay out the parts in the order that you removed them.

The whole point in packing the bearings is to fill the cage with grease.

If you are right handed ... Flip the hands if you're a south pawer!
Put a glob of grease in your clean left hand, take your bearing in your right hand holding the bearing through the center with the large end towards your left hand at about a 45 degree angle, then slice a little bit of grease off the glob in your palm forcing the grease through the cage until it comes out the smaller side!

DO NOT JUST SMEAR GREASE ON IT AND CALL IT GOOD! Fill the cage all the way around without spinning the cage on the inner race!

-Enjoy
