Don't get me wrong here, I know how it is wanting to upgrade. But...

Considering how little you drive, and the vast majority (all?) of your driving is done while towing -- have you considered spending a few bucks on your current truck to make it more of a towing beast? May I suggest a 5-Star tuner and 4.56 gears, or maybe 4.88?? It would run you about $2500 and you'd have a much more capable vehicle.

I know, I know -- the new trucks have lots of gadgets and stuff that makes them much more convenient. But, IMO, that just more stuff to go haywire.

I'm here to answer your question. I ordered a new F250, 6.2, 6 speed auto, 3:73 gears, got it the first week of June, in Sept thru Oct my wife and I took a two month long, cross country, 9,300 mile camping trip. Ran it on the interstates at a respectable 65 MPH with our 21' travel trailer behind us. It tips the scale around 6,000 LB fully loaded. MPG was a consistent 10 and once in a while I would see 12. You should do just fine and dandy with a similar set up. I don't think the 4:30 gearing is even necessary.

I'll tell you what I did 6 years driving my 09 5.4 f 350 it did everything I asked and then some, but I have to be honest with you after owning the new 2016 with the 6.7 it's just night and day I only have five thousand miles right now. the extra maintenance the extra oil the fuel filters is nothing ,I got blasted on the diesel forms for telling people I was averaging 23 mpg which the truck is now regular pulling 22 mpg With all that being said my fuel cost has been cut basically in half towing a 10,000 pound trailer still averaging 18 miles to the gallon and the RPM never going above 2000 up steep grades endless power drive ability that I can't even explain. They have come a long way with the new diesels if you have the money too burn go for the 6.7 I don't think I could ever drive a gas truck again just not too here RPM scream is a joy. And the endless ability to haul whatever you need mountains or flat land just my two cents

Is your 6.7 in a mustang? Those mpg's numbers are laughable.

I have the snow plow prep package on my truck. Besides what was already mentioned the front appears to sit slightly higher than other super duties. I would say the truck sits almost level. The F250 doesn't ride as nice as my F150 however the F250 does ride well on most road surfaces.
I have 13.5 MPG lifetime on my truck and will have 19,000 miles on it by the end of the week. Towing my boat or my car I get around 11 or 12 MPGs on the highway. The boat weighs 4,200lbs dry & the car with the open trailer weighs just over 5,000 lbs.
If I was buying another SD I would still pick the 6.2L gasser unless the EB was available.

Good fuel ???? Let's also not forget I'm old my days of racing everybody down the road long behind me I probably have never been over 64 mph with the truck with any of my trucks. Odds are by the time I go to sell this truck it will never have been opened full throttle or burning rubber no racing some *** hole in a Cummings up that hill. With all that being said I'm sure when I put my 35 inch tires on it for my farm a necessary evil to get to the fields and get the fuel to the equipment my fuel mileage will drop considerably but right now running stock just the work box and a hundred gallon fuel tank aluminum on the back and maybe 600 pounds of tools at any given time the trucks doing phenomenal I would have bought one back in 09 but I wasn't going to trust that 6.4 and I'm glad I didn't :-) so lets not turn this into I'm full of **** discussion thread I can't help it you people do things I wouldn't waste my time telling somebody what I'm getting for mileage and matter of fact it's going to become an issue with less tax ability write off it's kind of funny like I stated its cut my fuel bill in half my other truck at best. 8 - 10 miles to the gallon climbing hills to Utica here is my favorite pic round trip fill up in am stop at pm the other truck 5.4 was 17 gallons a day

For those who really complain about getting better fuel mileage or gas mileage then your dumb! Yes I said it, if you drive a SD Diesel/Gas or EX then you already went big why you trying to cut corners and save on fuel mileage? Seriously though and then you want to complain that maintenance is a bitch!? I will say this and I don't give a damn who's feelings I hurt if you own a SD truck or EX and you complain then go buy yourself a damn Hybrid! I don't want to hear about it!

On a side not my truck is 2005 F350 DRW 6.0 liter no major engine mods running 182k miles and I would take it across country and back as many times as it would go before I buy a brand new truck! I love my 6.0 and so should anyone who owns one.

I'm not made of green either I'm married with four kids and trying to make a way of life in this Active Duty Military! Not easy and certainly don't make much for money.

I own a 6.2 and see about 13mpg dry. I also tow a travel trailer weighing in at 6,500 lbs. get between 9-11 going 65mpg. Had no problem going faster speeds. At points, the engine was litterally screaming. (picking up speed at 60 miles an hour in second gear) Also this engine does put down a lot of torque to the wheels. With your set up, get the gas. If it was your daily driver, id would still say get the gas. This is one hell of a motor/trans combo. Both work great together. As for reliabilty, never heard a bad thing about the motor. keep up on regular maintenance and truck will treat you well. Mine is a 2015 with 18,000 miles on it.

Fyi- F350 towing capacity conventional 6.2 12,500lbs
6.7 14,000lbs

I've had a 6.0 liter PSD, F-550, a 6.8 V-10 F-350 and now have a 6.2 gasser in an F-250. I pulled a 30 stock trailer (15,000 lbs.) with all three trucks. The mileage under load was similar in all vehicles, but the F-550 pulled a bit better in headwinds. With the amount of miles you drive the 6.2 will serve you well. I have to agree with many of the comments above.
