What was your best junkyard find?

What's the best thing you've ever found at a junkyard and ended up bringing home? Doesn't have to be a vehicle or even a part. For me it was a complete screwdriver set in the toolbox of an old truck that was left in there from a previous owner. for five bucks you bet I took it home. Other was probably a complete tan interior from an 87 F150 for 50 bucks including a mint condition tan bench seat. Also Got the dash, trim, cluster, steering column, manual trans shifter, windshield trim, and a cargo light. I've found plenty of old 50s trucks but never got to get much from them

Wasn't ford parts, but a complete dash set(dash pad, gauges, bezels, etc), column, door panels and buckets out of a 91 suburban. Was all for my buddys 85 shortbed. It had to have been garage kept and the owner died or something, because it was all super clean and odo read 29k and the owner had a notebook in the glovebox for all repairs and oil changes that only went to 27k all the interior ran $200.. Can't fall into a driver seat that good for my truck darn it

Down at a pick-n-pay lookin for a set of aluminum rims for Raven. (Back in the *Cash fer Clunkers* days...) A yard guy yelled for me to move out of the way, a huge forklift came along and dropped a '95 Eddie Bauer right at my feet. MINT condition. New tires/rims, musta been garage kept. Except for the purposely blown engine, of course... I faught the devil to take it home, but NOOO... so I got the rims and tires, and sat in the driver's seat and fought back the anger and tears of the Stupidity of the Government. What a frickin waste of it all. At least the rims still roll...

I've had a few decent finds lately. GT 40 heads for about 40 each, cam and lifters for about 40 or so. Tires 15 inch regardless of condition about 20 to 25, I have brought home my share for different vehicles. I think my best so far is a holley square bore forgot the model number at the moment, for about 35 bucks. I shoulda got the shortie headers and intake but left those behind ..... someone else snapped them up ....

Mint condition Skyler soft top for my 1979 Bronco, at the time I did not understand how rare they were, but I got it for 50 bucks at the Turner, OR u pull. I've been offered over 700 bucks for it.

I've been a jy junky for a long time, I spend less time there now than I have over the years...I guess my recovery is working.

-Countless dana 60's both ballpoint and kingpin
-2wd and 4x4 zf6's
-nv4500's both gm and dodge (even though I don't like 4500s)
-Countless zf5
-multiple 6bts
-2 4bt
-one nv5600
-fj60 and fj80 axles
-multiple ls1
-2 t56
-1 fresh duramax, rear ended

There's been countless other misc parts I've gotten over the years, like old reciprocating ac compressors and stuff that can be used for other purposes....transfer cases of all sorts, diesel injectors, inj pumps, turbos, bolts, etc. Ive gotten tons of other drivetrain components not worth listing due to their abundance.

Build on the list: big cube 460 build, starting with a jy pull.

I've rarely gone to the jy for a purpose, I browse, and if I find something valuable I pull it. Valuable can be something I use or something rare.

I like to refer to it as "shopping".....LOL.....women do it all the time.......they can go wandering around for hours with no particular purchase in mind.........just to see what they can find....I can entertain myself for a full day and spend $20........Just sayin

This sums up my exploits for the most part.
There used to be a place across the river from me, that was a gold mine until the IRS and other agencies closed him down. Wasn't even an actual junkyard but the old guy had EVERYTHING. My dad had a 361out of a two ton dump truck that had an odd starter Bendix no part store could get so we went to old man Charlie Harmon and he looked at it and said I quote.." Go up the hill, turn left at the Studebaker by the oak, you'll see a school bus go inside and its in the shoebox in the tenth seat on the left."
Dad and I were like whatever but damned if it wasn't there. Old boy had thousands of cars on a hundred acres or so and anything you can imagine. And titles for 99% of it.

I found a console full of change in the console of a mid 60's Pontiac Grand Prix. The console lock was stuck and after jimmying it open I found my treasure. Around $20 in change.
