2002 Explorer sport trac draw

Working on my brother's 02 Sport trac with a parasitic draw. I fulled individually pulled the under-hood fuses and no change. I started pulling the interior fuses and when I pull fuse 26 - interior lights/ battery saver the amp draw dropped to an acceptable level. Any ideas how to fix the issue?

Have you confirmed the glove box light is turning off when the glove box door is closed? The easy way to test might be to just remove the bulb and see if the current draw remains acceptable.

What current draw are you measuring with and without fuse 26 installed?

I did not even think to check the glove box, the truck wouldn't start after sitting for an hour or so. With the fuse in I got around .36 and .19 with the meter set to work in the mA/A setting. Ill check the glove box light in the morning.

Well, a 360 mA draw should not be enough to kill the battery in an hour or even a day. Are you sure the battery is good?

The light in the glovebox maybe something worth looking into. When I bought my 2002 in early 2015 I noticed the bulb in the glove box was missing. I installed a new bulb and found it was not turning off when I shut the glove box door. Until I can get around to it I don't have a bulb in there for the time being.

Also, is the dashboard dimmer switch going wild at the slightest touch or movement? If so that could be bad and possibly something inside of it may be arcing ever so slightly inside of it.

Read the thread below (read the whole thing). If there's a chance of a fire then there's going to a draw before that fire starts. This was about the recall that was for various models of the Explorer in the late 90s and early 2000s. Call your dealership's service department to run the VIN to check if yours has had that harness replaced, yet (if you don't already know if it has or not).

I never got around to checking the glove box light but the battery finally tested bad. The first time they said it was good, the second time they watched the voltage drop after turning off the charger.
