Windshield defrost and floor vents won't work!

Hey guys it's been a while since I've been on here since I started a new job. I need some help from my favorite forum. No matter what I do with the settings for my heater in my lariat air only blows out of the dash vents. Defrost and floor vents don't work it still blows hot air out of the dash vents. I'm not sure what the deal is maybe the vacuum system? I did a search and all I could find was people having trouble with air ONLY blowing out of the defroster and my case is just the opposite.

Do you have the automatic climate control? I would assume so since it is a Lariet.

have you tried to see if there are any codes on it?

Based on prior experience, it could be a vacuum issue. I would also venture to say that your locking hubs won't work either since they are vacuum operated. Had this problem in an older Ford pickup.

It does have dual climate control. I'm not sure about the locking hubs yet since I haven't had to put it 4x4 this year. What are the symptoms if the hubs ain't locking?

hvac will go to defrost if that is the issue when you use 4x4.

I guess then you will know for certain of a vacuum leak.

I switched between 4x4 and 2wd I can hear my hubs locking (or a sound that makes me think they are locking) but no change in ventilation in the cab. Would the blend door have anything to do with this issue I'm having? I do notice that once the cab is heated then the system blows out cooler air until I turn up the temp a few degrees when the system is on auto

My understanding is the currant gen trucks are actuating blend doors electronically via stepper motors, not vacuum. I think running codes is a good first step.
I think my scanner will read it (mines an XLT, but I'll check sometime this weekend to confirm) if you want to meet up.

when switching into 4x4 what you are hearing is the shift motor for the transfer case.

No default to defrost when switch should mean no vacuum leak.

Chad maybe right that the doors are electronic.

Welcome back, Blapensee! I'd recommend having the truck diagnosed by your local Ford Dealer; I'm sure they'd be happy to solve this vent mystery for you. How many miles are on your rig?
