A Poor Boy's 49 f1

I picked up this old truck about a month or two ago. It's a 1949 F1 with a inline 226 and from Mark "49fordV8F4" leaard it has a pre '41 T9 4 speed transmission. I purchased a 1970 ford f100 long bed for parts. I plan on using the 302 motor and transmission from the 70 f100. I'm also planning on using the duel reservoir from the f100 too. I also love the idea that "smallello" has done on his metal bed for his ford. Gonna look at doing the same thing here. I plan on making this a everyday driver. To haul the dogs when I go coon hunting. To drive back and forth to work. Here is a couple pics of the old girl now. I got a long ways to go.

bought this truck complete and original.

got the front end off and the old welded on bumper. Then cleaned it all up and installed a better looking original bumper.

inner finders cleaned up really nice.

finally got the bed off.

thanks for looking

Mike

oh I got the 9" rearend in yesterday too. Found 3 broke leaf springs on the rear passenger side. I'll have to buy parts or a whole rear leaf set up.

thanks y'all. I'll have the 226, transmission and rearend to sale. That'll help me put a little back into the truck.

yes it is. Has a tear in the cross member where it bolts to the frame. Gonna replace it with channel iron. This was an old farm truck. You can tell they used it too...

Hey Mike,
Looking good up there in Stephenville! We've had pretty good luck
picking up late model parts we needed from the Salvage yard in Belton - west of town. If you get down that way.

Your inner fenders were in really good shape. We had good luck just spraying bedliner (Toff) on the interior floor,
running boards, & bed. Practical & tough as nails.

well I've made some project over the past couple weeks. I've got the duel reservoir master cylinder installed from the doner. Still waiting on the residual valves to come in, but I went ahead and put all new brake lines in and new flexlines. Still working on the emergency brakes from the doner rearend. Pulled the old 6 cylinder and transmission. Got the old gas tank cleaned up and installed back in the cab with new hose gasket, new sending unit and rubber spacers. I've been cleaning the frame up. I'm selling the motor, trans, drive shaft, rearend and shock mounts. If anyone is interested just let me know. Heres a few pics.

thanks Jimmy. Slowly but surely I'll get her going.

Toby I was lost too when I first got the truck. I thought it was a overdrive but learned from Mark "49fordV8F4" leaard it was a pre '41 T9 4speed. The thumb switch is to lift it up and put it in reverse.
