yes I know it has a few dints and dings, but I got all the rust cut out and welded new metal in. I'm happy with the way she looks. Gonna paint the rims black instead of blue. Also gonna look for someone to fab me a "G" for the upper grill. My nick name is frog so with a little rearranging of the "FORD" letters and I have FROD... LOL I need a G bad...

well I've made some progress. Got the hood on and latch ajusted good. Got the trim on hood too. Got a couple new tires for the front. Turn signals, headlights and brake lights done and working. About to start working on the seat and bed. Still got a few things to do, but it's coming along. Horn driving me crazy. I'm using the old relay from the 70 ford f100 and the horn works but it drains the battery down so I gotta work on that.

Hey Mike,
You got your hood looking good! We had a heck of a time getting our's adjusted & latching right. You are doing great!
I really like the way your truck looks - your choice of engine, narrow tires, mirrors, etc. You just painted
it yourself in the space you had available. You've got some skills.

Thanks Ben. Going to hit a swap meets this fall. I hope to find another mirror for the passenger side, a couple better hubcaps and a better rear bumper. About to redo the bench seat. Gonna have the driveshaft cut down next week and I'm about to tackle the bed. I'm really liking the narrow front tires. Should help with steering. Still looking for old style mud grips like these old trucks use to have. The hood was a tricky dude for a first timer. Took a little while to adjust it for the clearance i wanted, but she works perfect now. Still a little issue with it wanting to hit the cowl vent, but it's pretty good.

Your project is coming along great! Congratulations.
In your pictures you jump from completely unprepped body, to what looks like a pretty good paint job. Did you take any pictures of the body work as you did it? It looks like most of the dents are gone, and the paint looks good.
How much did you prep the body? And what did you use for paint?
Thanx,
Kirk

Kirk I'm not too good with the blocking and sanding or bondo work. The more I cleaned up the front skirt and fenders the more rust I found. I had to cut the bottoms of the fenders out and weld in two new pieces of metal. One thicker and one thinner. Same way on the skirt Here is a couple pics. Sorry I didnt take but one pic while I was welding it. Using a oil base farm paint with a hardener and 4 coats with sanding on every coat. I just cant seem to get the bondo and scratch filler to look right so I left some of the hail dents and such.

well I made a nice little test drive this past weekend. I took the original seat by a place to have it covered and I hope to have it back next week. Ordered new seat belts, new gas pedal, speed odometer and a few little things. The old things drives and handle pretty good. I bought two new tires for the front and I'm about to order a couple for the back. Had a couple friends come by to help me set the bed on some saw horses. Heres a couple pics. I hope to have the rust cut out, new floor and painted in a couple weeks.
bed gone....
some rust in the corner and where the running board attaches.

well I finally got the floor welded in and the bed painted. With a little welding and cutting the bed from the 1970 f100 went in really good. Holding it down with a little 3/4 angle iron. I left the existing brackets and supports on the 70 bed and notched them an inch to take up the space of the old wood floor. this allowed to fit in and down really nice. I hope to have the bed on by the weekend and get it rhino lined in a month or so.
