The last year I lived in Ottawa I was still doing special event marketing. For 3 years I had been selling balloons on the sidewalk during the Beige de Neige, Winterlude and had weasled my way onto the ice for the fourth year. The Winterlude got moved up a week due to the previous warm weather years. Highs of -25 - -29 all 10 days and the contract said all 5 locations had to be open the entire spot. All my balloon tiers quit or didnt show so I hired students to sell balloons and skated from location to location tying balloons. The rubber balloons looked like jelly beans until they got warm and the Mylars exploded if they got to warm in peoples cars. Buggered up the thumb, index and middle fingers on both hands due to minor frostbite, still feel it when its to cold. Glad I'm not doing that this year or any year since then, 30+ year injury that every so often likes to remind me that sometimes you dont really need to chase the allmighty $. LOL

Come to think of it, that whole last year was pretty crazy, some good and some was absolutely nuts. The nutty part was the worst and best because it was the worst.

Gets cold and damp enough, I've got a few fingers that turn white...

 

OK but I slept in til 8, my Moms hands turned white like that, poor circulation she said....
she hated the cold weather too

 

Wow has your weather ever been backasswards this year

 

Still cold here where I am Perry due to the wind chill, -11° today but with the wind they say it was the equivalent to -31°

 

The humidity doesn't help much either
