53 F100 project build new to FTE

Hello folks, my name is Zac. My fiancé' dad just passed down a 1953 F100 to us, his father bought it brand new in 53.. I'm looking to get some help on it, the truck is probably one of the most solid trucks out there that really... The stage I am at right now, is we got her home safe and sound, the engine was locked up, I poured some marvels mystery oil down here and about a couple hours later she can spin manually.. The electrical on the other hand seems to be a nightmare... I've been told the truck has been converted over to a 12v system already, but so many wires are bare.. So I just ordered a EZ kit for it.. But I'm concerned on how to install it.. Now I've been around electrical tow degree, but not a master.. And I get how to install it as far as running wires and they say where they hook up, seems pretty easy, what I don't know about is with it being converted already, it has different what appear to be solenoid stand condensors of some sort.. And I'm not sure how to factor those into the new harness... Hopefully that maes since.. I'm not sure how to upload pictures yet, but I'm trying to figure it out and show what I mean. I thank everyone in advance on your opinions. I am super stoked on getting this old girl back on the road.. I used to have a 1951 Mercury M100 that my father and I built, but unfortunately had to sell her years ago..

Hi Malibu53. welcome to the forum. I've got a 53 myself. I'm among the few who are doing a stock rebuild. Besides getting the wiring sorted out, what are your plans?

Thank you! My goals as of right now, even though it has a 6, is to keep it the way she is.. I want to get her on the road and enjoy her. I will probably put different wheels on her and some interior extras, but keep it pretty much they way she is... The long haul is to completely strip her and do a frame off.. When I hit that lotto of course

Not to sure what this is.

Is it factory? Or part of the 12v conversion?

Thank you, it's to rusty to read.. So when I start my new wire harness, will this still be used?

It might be embossed on the cover. I'm away from my stash right now so I can't look. A regulator will be used in a 6 or 12volt system. The generator should also be 12v. Though some conversions use an alternator. Is there a 12v battery?

Looks like a great truck to start with.

Zak, are you intending to keep the generator or change over to an alternator?

I used an EZ wire 21 circuit. I DID NOT use the voltage regulator. I went with a 1 wire alternator and new ignition, wiper and headlight switches. I used the old **** on the new switches to keep the look.

Oh, and welcome to FTE!

Thank you, and there is no battery in the truck.. The cables are of course there, and the ground goes right to the frame. And Harleymsn, I was thinking for now just keep the generator. Since its there already, and I just want to get her running, then look at upgrading different things. If I keep the regulator, what wires Dorian to it? And then coming off it, where do they go?

Zac, you're going to need a wiring diagram.
