Wife mandates we have a bunkhouse. She also wants a large living room area. This seems to fit the bill perfectly. It has pretty much everything we want and is setup the way we would prefer. This is the actual unit we are looking at. 42' tip to tip. We rule out a toy hauler. This unit also is rate to carry a rear bike rack. Upgrades include rear camera, 4 step steps, twin wisper AC units, LED lighting, Goodyear tires, Metal covered awning, and rear bike mount. $52,900 is their lowest price since they are a wholesale dealer.

Opinions?

Looks good to me. I like the floor plan. The loft is very helpful for overflow and storage too.

The pleated day/night shades work well. I have those too.

Looks good!

We looked at Palomino rigs and thought they were a pretty good value for the money - but that's not saying much unfortunately... They are all (-All campers) made as cheaply as possible and it is up to you to find where they cut corners and to place a value on that...

Look for things like ::
* Independently controlled landing gear to help you level the rig from side to side.
* Generator prepped with automatic switch
* 50 amp shore line at least as long as the trailer is
* more than one 15 amp circuit in the kitchen (sucks when you can't make toast while the microwave is on)
* Sit on the cr@pper and then wipe ( no I am not joking )
* Pull out the bottom drawers in the kitchen to see what the cabinets are made of
* Ask if you can see the wiring closet behind the control panel
* Crawl underneath and look at the tags for the axles - must be rated to carry the weight loaded..
* Get up on the roof and make sure that they properly installed the vents etc. and that all is fully and properly caulked.. Having a leak later is possible and they will seal the leak under warranty - but they won't do s#!t for the water that already got into your walls, floor and ceiling..

I would highly recommend at automatic leveling system. That's probably my biggest PITA with mine. I hate having to run over boards and stuff to level side to side, then wait for the slow landing gear to come down, then crank down the rear stabilizers.

Last time we camped I watched a guy with a new(er) rig that had the auto level system. He backed into the slot, hit a button to lift it to "unhook" level, pulled out, then hit another button and the whole rig leveled itself, front to rear, left to right.

Me want!

Edit - DITTO to everything BigFoot said.

Thought FTE mandated a tri-axle configuration. Tandem axle campers were left for GM and Ram trucks to pull. I'll have to go back and read the FTE rules again.

(Looks very nice, I am just kidding around)

It's where you say that should be pulled with the F150.

Go big(er) or go home Justin. You don't want to trade again in another year...

Only serious consideration for how BIG is too BIG are the places you like to camp. There are a lot of campgrounds we go to that our 30' goes into just fine, but anything larger might leave you in the cold. Our friends just got a 42' Gold Nugget, and while very nice, cant get into some campgrounds they would like.

Normally, I am a go big or go home kinda guy too, but in this case gotta look all sides of the equation. My next one will probably be in the 36' range, but then its just my wife and I anymore. If the kids come, its only for a short time, and they prefer a tent.

Before you pull the trigger you may want to shop at Holiday World and Camper World on I-10 West of Katy. They have serious inventory to choose from and maybe good to get some other prices.
