Right now, I am on the fence about what to do. I've been driving the truck, and although I hear the leak, it is far from annoying. I was going to do some other stuff on the truck (spray in liner, Bilstein 5100s, carpet, window tint) first. However, if I don't go with the Banks Stinger, I will go with a universal SST tailpipe, a small SST muffler, and devise my own plan for hangers. I'll do a better cat at the same time. This should be much cheaper than the Banks system. Its not so much the price that bothers me, its the fact that I think the Banks system will be too quiet, and I just can't have that.

I have a 1992 with Thorley headers single 3 " thru a magnaflow muffler and a 3 ' single tailpipe. this is the second system had a flowmaster 70 series on until recently is rusted out after 100k and changed muffler and tailpipe. I have put this system on a std cab and mine is a 4 door works great and really wakes them up

Have you had the Thorleys a long time? I like them but I can only find them with 2 1/2 collectors.
If you know where to get them with 3" would you post a link to them? Thanks

I bought the truck in 2001 it had 125k on it and the exhaust went on shortly there after. it has 229k on it now and no issues with the headers they are designed to fit the stock exhaust and retain the emissions so yes the headers end with a 2.5" three bolt flange and the kit includes a y pipe that ends in 3" that is supposed to hook right in to the cat. The drivers side header bends under the oil pan to hook into the y -pipe. I got rid of the cat and just ran straight 3" into the muffler and a flowmaster tail pipe kit.
works great no issues i have installed the same system on a 95 with no issues as well. They are not cheap around $800 but well worth it in my opinion hope this helps

Thanks for the reply Richard.
I want to run 3" from header on back into true duals if I can.
JIMH I think that it would give better flow and possibly better gains in HP and torque.
Tho going into a 2 1/2 to 3 adapter might give me the same results.Don't know if it will make any difference or not. I'm not too concerned about cost, I want to get the most I can but still not break the bank !!!! LOL!
I know the exhaust is gonna be kinda expensive, but it's the first exhaust that I have had to put on it. I have 160 k on the truck now. It runs strong but trying to take the time and get best I can afford and do best for the truck. She's been a GREAT truck. Hardly ever been down and if it was down usually minor problem that was fixed in a day or two.
I have kept up on maintenances and made sure to keep up on tune ups and oil changes. I'm getting bet 11.7 to 13.6 Mpg on average. Real good for a 460 that's 20 some yrs old.
So yes your post helps!! I keep trying to put the best equipment for the truck that I can afford.
I honestly will use motorcraft parts when ever I can! They do the best job and it gives me the best MPG.
I know I may beat this to death but I found that by looking at many ways to do something eventually the best way will show itself.
Again thanks for the reply.
