No oil pressure at idle

2003 6.0 diesel with 200,000 miles runs good start easy but does not show oil pressure at idle (intermittent problem that has been occurring more often). It has ford oil filters and ford oil with about 3500 miles on the oil. The check gage will come on and the oil pressure drops out if you give it some throttle it comes back but will drop out again at idle. But like I said the truck runs perfectly fine and the icp shows pressure all the time.

might just be a bad sender .(or the wire/connector). Harbor freight has a cheap oil pressure tester setup you can get for $20 with the coupon. unscrew the sender and screw that in to make sure you dont have a big problem.

Ironically I am having the exact same issue that began last night. I'm in a 06 6.0. Is there any way to monitor low pressure oil pressure from the PID's using torque pro or SGII. Also i believe mine is an electrical problem as i had had issues with the Tach not reading properly on a couple occasions.

If truck starts and runs fine you might have a bad EOP sensor, which in reality is just a switch that will move the needle to the middle range once it reach's 7 psi. If you didn't have that much you won't even begin to feed the HPOP.

Pretty sure there is no PID for the LPO.

Might also check to be sure the little black plastic valve under the oil filter is not broke. You will have to remove the filter to inspect.

My truck did this one before about a month ago when i had a coolant hose I didnt get tight so I thought it was just a wet sensor. Now since I live in OK and monsune season hit christmas night and now I am having the issue again. Truck starts and runs great. IPR and ICP numbers are right where they are supposed to be even when the oil pressure drops out.

Like navistarnut said. there is no pid. you have to screw in an actual gauge to see what the oil pressure truely is. Hopefully you both are just having sender or wiring issues

Engine won't run without base oil pressure. That's a bonus...

Most likely it's a sender or wiring issue.

If I understand you correctly, your topic is the pressure in the HPO (high pressure oil) system. Here you can display all values via OBD. The gentlemen above mentioned the LPO (low pressure oil / base oil pressure) system.

I asked for information on your post on TheDieselStop and a day has passed with no response.

As I posted there:
Tell us where the ICP sensor is located on your 04 engine and then tell us what brand of oil filter cap and oil filter you are running.

AND - Take a picture of the top of the engine and post it. It can provide us with some information that might help.

Well, I see you have logged on after the latest responses above ..... and presumably read the feedback you have gotten. Why no response? Do you really need help?

It is hard to understand your approach to getting help.

Edit - the person above Hartwig's post is probably a troll ...............
