Arrow Manual Three Speed Shifter

I'm going to be disassembling my steering column on my 61 F100 to fix the sloppy "broom handle in a bucket" shifter. Does anyone have a parts list for what I'll need or even a link to a complete rebuild kit? I'd like to order everything at once to rebuild the top end of steering column.

I will be watching this post. This is on my list for this winter.

I would advise you to check where the shift linkage attaches to the shift arms on the transmission. Ours were all wallowed out. I welded the holes shut and redrilled them to 19/64". Then took a file and reshaped the male end on the linkage to get a nice snug fit. I know I still need to rebuild the column and shift tube just not sure if that will require dropping the steering box.

I've checked those linkages, but I will again. I'm pretty sure the issue is at the shifter. It's incredibly loose even when not shifting, in gear or not. It wobbles all over the place. Shifts and stays in gear just fine though. I think it's the bushings but I'd like to have a complete parts list before starting.

I saw a thread once about the wear on the shift tube. Seems like that would be a big job to get out and rebuild.

How do you know if your column needs rebuilding?

Things to check would be to remove the linkages from where they connect to the column and check the shift arms for any play. There really shouldn't be any. another place to check is the shift collar that is where the gear selector goes into the column. There should be a rubber boot where the gear selector goes into the collar. Remove your gear selector from the column and try to see where the lever engages the shift tube. Maybe the hole is worn out of round. I replaced the shift lever arms and thrust washer on my '66. It was a PITA but was doable in a day. I replaced my broken turn signal assembly at the same time.

No one sells a kit, all the parts are/were sold individually.

So, where is the trust washer and the rubber gasket that I keep hearing is the usual culprit for the loose shifter? I'm not seeing them on the parts view. The shift handle fits tightly into 7228. It's 7228 that is loose and is sloppy. Doesn't affect function though.

7228 is pot metal, develops cracks which eventually causes the internal bridge to snap off. The bridge connects the shift collar to the shift tube.

The 'rubber gasket' is shown in the 1st pic as part of the shift lever, but it's a separate piece. See following Econoline pic for 7246.

The trust washers are parts 7D363 and 7336 in ND's first diagram. They are on either side and between the shift lever arms.
