Ext Wty AFTER the sell
Good morning and Merry Christmas to all. I did not purchase the extended warranty with my truck but now after reading about what all could go wrong I am wondering if that was a mistake. Has anyone out there bought it after the sell and if so what did you pay for it? I have just over 1,000 miles on it.
I was told I could come in anytime before the standard wty expires and purchase the extended.
Thank you

Zeigler is a little higher but does have financing.

Buy it now or buy it later, the cost to you probably be higher for the same length of warranty. Each October, Ford price may go up. I know I could have gotten the 7/125 for $300 or so cheaper if I had purchased during the first year of ownership.
Flood Ford requires payment in full with no financing.

SAVE $$ on a Genuine Factory Ford Protect Extended Warranty!

i had the cash set aside, so was going for the lowest total cost. $2310 for premium to 100,000/7 total yrs, when the truck had 23,000 miles and 2.5 yrs into the 3 yr original.

Won't cover fuel system when water separator fails to do its job, which is my #1 concern. I'll tune instead of an ext. warrantee.
I view these trucks as pretty reliable not prone to failure. You just don't see as many happy people posting about how they never have problems.

Water in fuel should be covered by either one of the following:
A) Vendor's insurance where fuel was purchased with water. This should be primary party for the claim.
or
B) If one is covered by their comprehensive insurance for the vehicle. Insurance company bring suit against seller of bad fuel for their re-reimbursement.

I added MBI (mechanical breakdown insurance), to my auto policy when I bought my truck. It covers until 100,000 miles. Between that and the comprehensive I'm covered for drivetrain, and fuel issues. I admit I'll be taking my chances on all the other stuff though. Not a single hiccup so far. Man, I love this truck!

Yes, It is Geico, and to get the MBI you have to start it when the vehicle is new, or within a short time after.

Agreed. If anything a tune makes the truck less reliable.
If ford covered fuel issues I would get a ext. warranty, and live with the stock power level. But they don't so it's an excuse to be able to modify and enjoy the truck even more.
Going to see if I can get MBI on my auto policy thanks for the info
