remove storage box under rear seat

We have a 2013 F150 Lariat. When you raise the rear seat bottoms the entire floor board opens into a really large nice flat space. By removing the storage tub from my 2015 SD Lariat will that provide the same results as the F150 ? Thanks ...

It is my understanding from the research I have done, that there are metal "wings" that will still remain after removing the storage bins. These wings are what the tubs bolt to. It will still open up the floor for the most part. I am considering this on my new 2016.

I understand the rear seat flat tray from the earlier trucks will bolt in place of the tubs.

The folding platform in the above post worked very well in my last pickup. Not quite the open floorboard of the F150 but a nice alternative. Thanks much ...

I plan to do this as well this weekend and will post pictures. Does anyone have any lessons learned?

I pulled the storage tray from my 2011 F250 CC, so our dogs have a space to lie down. The wings do cut into the comfort zone a bit. I have been watching some fold flat trays on eBay, but have not pulled the trigger yet. I just put a couple of blankets down and they dogs manage fine.

I too came from a 150 with the huge flat floor when the seats fold up. I am happier with the F250 because I like the behind the seat storage that I need more than the "dog room". To me the compromise works. I'll bet the 2017 SDs have a large fold flat floor, but will lose most if not all the behind the seat storage.
