Locking Hub questions? Which ones??

My Hubs are frozen up and I want to replace them. I found these........

1999-2004 Ford F550 Super Duty Locking Hub - Driveshaft & Axle - Dorman 99-04 F550 Super Duty Locking Hub - 5380-05381088 - PartsGeek

My question is, should I just replace them with a set of manual locking or is it worth it for the $300 for the pair to go with these??

Thanks!

Use the search feature on this site for hubs. There are several good existing threads discussing various aftermarket brands, including Mile Marker and Warn too.

You could go with manual only, but in my mind it would always chafe because my hubs weren't working as designed.
I'm not sure I'd go with Dorman, but I'd definitely go with auto lockers.

I just went from auto-lockers to warn premium on my '03. I feel better knowing the hubs are either positively locked or not. When I researched it I decided this was the more economical and reliable route.

Something else to think about, is that if you buy something other than o.e., like the mile markers, warn, etc., you'll get a lifetime warranty with it. So if it 'does' fail(which is doubtful on a dd), at least you won't have to pay for it again.
As long as you don't mind getting out to lock/unlock them, I wouldn't even bother with the stock junkers.

Just waiting on Santa!

I put the Mile Marker 449S/S Lock Out Hubs on the top of my Christmas list this year...no longer will I have to suffer with the ESOF vacuum hubs ever again. These have gotten great reviews and the price was right from Amazon. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! (Also Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, etc.).

I'm thrilled with my MM hubs on our 02 250. Get rolled in during winter months and rolled back out in the spring.

I replaced my auto lockers, that were shot, with Mile Marker manual hubs. Work great so far. On my 1999 SD 250. Was gonna order them online, but ended up just buying them from a local Advance Auto Parts store.

I just replaced my auto lockers on my 13 f250 today. Drivers side was clicking in 2wd. pulled it out in about 10 pieces. Cheap Plastic junk on a $40000 truck. Very disappointing. BTW I Replaced with Warn Premiums from Summit racing. Very Happy so far but will let you know when Snow flies and i can Plow.

I put WARN 11690's on my 1999.This is the 3rd SD truck I have put them on. I don't like the factory auto hubs and they always seize or fail in some way.
