Did I really just do that... Advise Please!

Well sorry for the delay. I have had my Trans rebuilt completely with the 4r70W internals from a guy I have heard great things from. He rebuilt my trans with 2in kevlar bands and a shift kit plus replaced the shift tips in my T case and resealed it for $1200. I then purchased a Converter from PTC out of Alabama. After making sure all components were compatible I replaced cooling lines and a new Cooler. I installed the trans and T-case. I set the T.V cable like he advised with just a tiny amount of pressure at closed throttle.
Drive #1 The truck would not shift to 2nd unless the fluid was warm or you tortured the ***** out of it. After it shifted into 2nd once it had no problem doing it again. The issue then was not down shifting from 2nd back to first at a stop and it would stall the engine.(I thought this was not possible due to the torque converter)
I called my Trans guy up and told him he situation. He then dropped the valve body and the Governor cleaned and reinstalled then reset the TV cable.
Drive #2 The truck shifted smooth and ran like a dream. I put a coupe thousand miles on the trans and then the morning hard shift started to come back along with not wanting to down shift right away, but instead I would have to gouge the pedal to get the gear I want.
I called the Trans guy again and informed him of my situation. He is going to replace the governor completely and advised this will fix my issue. I asked if it was ok to drive until then being it is my daily driver to work he advised yes its not gonna cause damage.
Today I was driving to work and heard a slight wine from the bellhousing area. I checked the fluid and its right where it has been since day one (no leaks gotta love it) I didn't notice any driving issues other than the ones I already had. Then latter that same trip I pulled a steep hill from a stop and the truck tried to shake my skull loose and almost stall like it couldn't pull the hill. I got a loud noise like a clunk mixed with a grind from the bell-housing area. Once the truck was taken up to speed slowly the noise went away and the truck shifts like normal until you stop then its back to clunking and grinding until your up to speed where there is less load then it evens out and seems to run right.
I am thinking torque converter? anyone else got some info for me on this?

Ok, I drove the truck home and no issues other than the usual hard shift to second when cold. I drove it back to work tonight and have found it runs like normal unless you put it under a load then it jumps violently like a 5 speed taking off in third in a 3cyl GEO on a hill (DAMN ROUGH). I know the Trans guy will take care of it but I don't wanna do damage that is gonna need a new new rebuild. After the build of the engine and trans I have had a sneaky suspicion the TQ has been stuck locked due to 7mpg and driving like a dog when stop and go like having no power. Is this something that makes sense to you all?
The truck when taking off in first feels gutless unless you apply half or more throttle then it jumps up 300-400 rpm (not shifting down) then pulls like a monster does that sound like a locked torque converter?

AODs do not have a locking torque converter. They have concentric input shafts, 4th gear is directly connected to the engine crankshaft through the 2nd input shaft.
You might want to check your plug wires, and make sure they're not cross-firing. A misfire can cause a quite severe shake, especially under load.

The engine is not the problem. The trans is completely fried. I went to pull a steep grade on the way to work and it wouldnt go above 30mph anytime the RPM went above 2500 the truck would go into neutral and would shift back until I came to a stop and tried again. I checked the fluid again and now its black and smells like death. The tranny is toast I just wish I knew why. The TV cable is set corectly and not broken at any place. The trans shop said bring it by and they'll fix it so will see.

Put in a manual trans. End of problem.
But seriously... if you've ever seen inside an auto there's little oil passages everywhere. It's not hard to imagine that one little piece of debris was still in there waiting to break loose and foul up the works. Kudos to your transmission mechanic for doing what it takes to make this right.

I was just laughing about this the other day thinking why did I not buy the $300 dollar trans from the pull-a-part and go from there but hey life lesson learned.

The skinny is this, The shop took the trans in and found the *NEW* Torque Converter had come apart and chewed the pump destroying the whole trans. Now the shop could have told me to **** off there warrant doesn't cover a faulty TQ but no they picked the truck up at my house, pulled the trans rebuilt it and sen the TQ back. Then received the new TQ put it all together and drove it to my house........ not one dime spent.
I am really wanting to put a 5speed but now I believe im just happy to get a truck that runs and drives......... ONE DAY...... ONE DAY
