87-91 Bench Seat Cup Holder

I am planning on putting a bench seat from a 87-91 truck with the fold down armrest and cup holder in my 85. I was wondering how deep the cup holder holes are? From pictures I have seen they don't look very deep and don't look like they would keep cups in them from spilling very well.

They were all designed before the era of supertanker sized cups. Mine are full of change, cell phone and assorted stuff.

the cup holders in the bench seat 87-91 are pretty rare. unless you already have a line on a seat, plan on doin alot of looking. Ive owned 3 trucks of that vintage, and seen at least a dozen others, and none have ever had that cup holder

I have never see those cup holders before nor the fabric in those pics. They appear to be aftermarket seats

I think those seats were 87 and early-88 only. The second pic (with the red seat) is from a Ford brochure. Mid-88 the fabric changed and the cup holders were deleted.

My 87 XLT Lariat has those, they're only 1'' deep. I only use them for drinks while sitting in a drive in, like Sonic.

RebelRed87, has your seat been recovered? Because you have the later mid-88 and on fabric. Notice how it does not match the fabric on the door panel?

jas88, Nope it's all original. My truck was made in May of 87. The fabric that those have on it, were probably made in 86. I bought the truck in 2012, and it was all original, nothing done to it. The first owner and 2nd were both elderly men who owned it before me.

Better pic of the whole seat. Normal wear with a 120,000 mile truck.

Here is an early 1987 XLT Lariat model with a Canyon Red interior. The fabric changed in 1988 to the one pictured above and the interior color changed to Scarlet Red. Notice the seat fabric and the top of the door panel is completely covered in matching fabric:

Here is another picture of mis-matched later 1988 seat fabric with a different variation of the 1987 door panels, just like RebelRed87's truck:

Do yourself a favor and just get a cup holder from a 92-97 truck

2 bolts go into the front of the frame and then the cup holder snaps on to it.

I have red one if you are interested

Brad,
Could you give me some info on the shifter as shown in your last pic? It takes me back to the days when I had a date ridin' at my hip, and when I put it into 4th, I'd purposely ride the gear makin it (and her) hop!

I am considering one of those cup holders but I have to have a blue one.
