Tonneau cover complaint

I've been pretty happy with my BakFlip Fibermax tonneau cover. But with this past weeks storms, I'm unhappy.

My cover has frozen to the top of the tail gate each night. When it freezes, I can not open the tail gate to load any tools into the bed in the morning. I know, my fault for parking the truck out side.

So anybody got any ideas of how to prevent the tonneau from freezing to the tailgate cap?

A light code of silicone spray? Thats what I used on the rubber seals on my Diamondback cover to keep things from sticking.

I had the BakFlip HD and it would freeze to the tailgate all the time... got really annoying. I tried silicone spray, didn't work. and it got really old every time I opened the tonneau I ended up with it all over my hands every time I opened the cover. I ended up carrying a 6" paint scraper/drywall mudding tool and just ran it in between the tailgate and the rubber lip on the tonneau.

Haven't had it cold enough here to find out whats gonna happen with my Retrax, I have the rollers sprayed good, hopefully it will keep the water out and from freezing the rollers.

23 years ago when I got my first car the door seals froze shut on me. I had to use a hair drier to get my door open (New England). An old timer taught me something that day. After 23 years of applying Pam to all of my seals I have never had a door, tailgate, toolbox, tonnou cover, etc. freeze shut ever. There's plenty of other ideas out there, this is what has worked for me.

I was wondering about spraying something on the tailgate cap. But always worry about rubbing up against it trying to reach into the bed and getting it on my cloths.

I sprayed my seals with pure silicone spray and then wipe it clean with a clean microfiber towel. It works well for a short period of time (say half the winter or a really wet snowfall).

I have used RV slide-out seal conditioner before also. Seemed to work fine.
