There are a few Raptors running around on test right now and they are not 3.5 ecoboost engines. There will be a different engine option and it will begin as a 2017.5 offering.

This would be some shocking/breaking news. Do your sources reveal the motor as the new 4.8L I have read about?

Doesn't seem too far fetched, everyone is making fun of a V6 Raptor. Seems like a no brainer, Do a boosted Coyote and people will shut up.
I don't have confirmation of the displacement, BUT i know it has 8 cylinders. I am definitely waiting on buying a Raptor until this is released. I heard that the production part approval date for parts related to it is early June. It will flow nicely into a 2018 model

Ford recently confirmed in 2018 the 150 will feature a 5.0... once thought it could be the home for the 4.8. My curiosity has spiked now in what the 4.8 will go into...
Regardless of what Fords plans are for future Raptor engines be it a twin turbo V8 or a hybrid quad turbo Inline 3 banger. They are not likely to spill to beans to someone on twitter about it. If the Raptor is going to get some kind of new engine treatment in future year models, then we won't know about it until fairly close to it's public release.
Having heard the V8 rumors that seem to keep popping up, I decided to go to Ford Trucks Communications Manager; Mike Levine via Twitter and either get some type of confirmation or put this the rumor to bed. Well, according to Mike (see the attached Twitter conversation) "There are no plans for an F-150 Raptor with a V8."
I have production parts going through the approval process as we speak.
If you work in engineering or quality at Ford (or even for a supplier of theirs), you would have signed a NDA that prohibits you from discussing things of that nature outside of work.

Completely agree.... 93's sole purpose in life seems to be to slam the Ecoboost engines. If he were a Ford employee, it would behoove him to HELP the company by not spreading his contrived nonsense.
The 3.5 Raptor has proven itself to be a worthy adversary to all the other makers production trucks - INCLUDING the Gen-1 Raptor..
