6.4 DPF delete -> no change in fuel economy???
#16
How much engine life does DPF & EGR remove from 6.4?
Hello, I'm new to forum. I run a Banks IQ tuner (only) and was considering doing a DPF-EGR delete. Friends at work swear by it in regards to improving mileage and HP. My biggest concern is engine life. I've had many older diesels go 750K to over a million miles without an overhaul but the regen on my 6.4 concerns me. We pay more up-front for diesel engines in return for things like economy, power and longevity and was wondering if anybody had any input on deleting or not.
Thx,
Tony

Tony - one word comes to mind: DELETE! Delete everything - delete the EGR, delete the DPF, delete the CAT - delete everything... There is absolutely not one single thing that all the emissions equipment does to enhance the functionality or lifespan of a diesel engine. In fact, the very off-gassing of the EGR process retards combustion in an engine designed around pressure-driven spontaneous combustion - -- robbing you of lifespan, fuel efficiency, etc... so - DELETE... Then - when you're done deleting, take the cranck-case tubing off the side of the intake-to-oil-fill and throw it away. Plug the pipe-barb to the intake and then take a 1-1/4" hole-saw, drill a hole in the side of the oil-fill, put a bung in it and take a hose down to the frame-rail immediately behind the trailing arm... Diesel engines need to be vented! all this recirculating does is plug up the intake, turbo and intercooler with oily vapor and increase crank-case pressure.
