1989 F-250 5.8L (351 W) Distributor Drive Gear
I need help please in identifying the proper distributor gear type for my 1989 F-250 5.8L or 351 Windsor Engine.
I am in the process of a complete restoration of my truck, I am trying to replace the original Distributor, but I am unable to determine if my engine (original) has a "Flat Tapped or Roller Cam".
I found that the major difference is the Distributor Gear metal type, it is either Steel or Cast Iron. As many of you already may know that if a different alloy is used it can damage the Cam due to the gear and or the cam being harder.
The existing Motorcraft Distributor identification numeration is as follows:
Sticker on side of Distributor reads:
E4TE-1231-CA
Ignition Module: Mounted on Distributor
E3EF-1A297-A2A
Thank you all for your help!

The motor is the original that came with the truck. The question came up in a form of a choice when selecting the distributor online. I thought perhaps two different cams were produced for the engine in 1989.
It is my understanding that roller cams did not come standard until 1994.
