Pre-92 Front-End to 92+ Front End?

Hello,
Just a quick (maybe) question. I liked the 92-96 F-series front-ends better than the older ones, but this 90 came along and I couldn't pass it up becasue of everything else it had going for it. Anyway, in looking at the truck, the body lines seem to match, and knowing they must be very similar if not the same in chassis, I am wondering if the swap is possible/feasable. I actually was thinking it might just be the fenders, headlights, front fascia, grille and possibly hood that would be different. Would they just bolt on, maybe with some wiring for the headlights? How about any other differences, or maybe I'm just way off. Anyone done it before successfully?

Thanks!

I am not positive but, I have been thinking the same thoughts! I know it is a basic door forward swap! Not sure about the core support, or the wiring? If I find out any more I will post!

Pre-92 Front-End to 92+ Front End?

I see now comparing detailed pictures (as detailed as I could find) that the fenders, hood, front fascia, bumper, headlight assemby, grill all appear to be different. I still don't know about bolting evereyhting on though. I'm waiting on a repair manual to come mail order, but I'm not srue if that will help or not.

Pre-92 Front-End to 92+ Front End?

it will bolt up just fine, you might have to make a bracket for the bumper. I think it bolts through the bumper to the front frame rails where the 92 has a angle bracket on the frame and a bracket on the back of the bumper. but nothing a little angle iron from Home Depot won't fix.
I put a whole 80 clip on my 95 cab (only because I had one and didn't have the money for a new style) the only difference was bumper and bottom of fenders where they bolt to the cab. the 80-86 bolted straight up and the 92-96 were at an angle. I just bent the bottom fender bolt supports. I'm not sure about the 87-91. the wiring-the headlights will be OKk but the 92-96 has two parking lights (one under the headlight-parking turn one on the side of the HL parking)where the 90 has one (I think one on the side-parking and turn) (per side), you might have to splice a wire into the harness for the parking light.
only other thing is to check the rad support.
Good luck
